Falls Prevention

Falls Prevention is very important in elderly. Nearly half of all people living in residential aged care facilities fall each year. While some falls cause no injuries, others can cause serious harm.

The risk of falling increases with age because of the normal changes that happen to our bodies. Balance decreases after age of 40 & muscle strength decline as we age. Falls result in reduced function and mobility, which can impact quality of life.

The good news is that there are a number of things we can do to help prevent falls and minimise the injuries as a result fall.

Our Falls Prevention Program is part of our normal residential aged care services. We identify the residents with high falls risk & implement Falls Prevention strategies to prevent falls & related injuries.

We offer-

  1. Falls risk assessment and regular reviews
  2. Identifying high falls risk residents
  3. Identifying risk, intrinsic and extrinsic factors that can lead to a fall
  4. Falls prevention plans
  5. Strategies to minimise risk of injuries
  6. Regular multi-disciplinary meetings to analyse incidents and evaluate effectiveness of interventions
  7. Education to resident, staff & families regarding falls risks & prevention strategies

We also provide strength & balance training to residents focusing on preventing falls on facility request.
